Timimgs of Indian Consulate Houston

The counter at CGI Houston remains open from 9.00 A.M. to 12.30 PM for accepting applications on all working days (Monday thru Friday). Please refer to viewing the list of holidays observed by the consulate. Applicants can submit their duly completed applications along with the prescribed fee at the counter.

Note: Applications can be submitted in cases of emergency at the Consulate after the counter has closed. Documentary proof of emergency would be required and an additional fee of US \$ 90 would have to be paid for issue of passports.

The processed passports/documents could be picked up between 4.00 P.M. and 5.00 P.M. on the pickup date given at the time of submission. Applicants should bring their receipt to pick up the passports(s) / document(s).

The fee for the service may be paid in form of either cash or Money Order/Cashiers check drawn in favor of Consulate General of India, Houston, at the counter. Once submitted at the counter, no money will be refunded for any reason, even if the service is denied or withdrawn by the applicant.

Applications accepted at the counter can also be mailed to the applicant after due service, if so requested. Applicants would be required to pay the mailing fee.

Visa Information

Guidelines For The Visa Applicants

1. TIME TAKEN TO ISSUE VISA:

Counter Cases: Ordinary Tourist and Entry visas can be obtained from the consulate at Houston on the same day. Applications for visas are received at the counter between 9.00 A.M. and 12.30 P.M. on all working days (Monday through Friday). Serviced documents /passports are returned the same day between 4.00 P.M. and 5.00 P.M.

Overnight Mail/Certified/Registered Mail cases: Applications could also be sent to the Consulate through mail. For returning the passport by Certified mail, please send a self addressed stamped envelope along with your application OR include an additional amount of $5.00 in case of one passport and an extra $1.00 for every additional passport to the fees towards return mail charges. If you want it delivered by priority mail, add $7.00 if by registered mail, add $10.00 and if you want it by courier services (FEDEX/UPS), please enclose $15.00 extra. Account numbers , COD's are not acceptable. It normally takes 3 to 5 working days to process such cases.

Business visa applications should be submitted in Duplicate and should be accompanied by (i) 2 photographs & (ii) letter from the business organization / School (for student visa) which the applicant represents. Visas to be valid from the date of issue.

Transit visa is issued for the sole purpose of enabling the holder to travel through India to reach his ultimate destination and cannot be used for purpose of tourism, business, etc. (confirmed air ticket for onward journey out of India must be produced for getting a transit visa).

8.Emergency Charges $35.00 for US Nationals Only Additional charges paid along with the regular visa fees in order to expedite the process

Note: All types of visas are valid for the indicated period from the issue and not from the date of entry.


VISA FEE : Mode of Payment

All visa fees and mailing charges are payable by Cashier's Check or Money Order or cash at the counter. An additional outstation processing fee of US $10.00 is charged when visas and other consular services are rendered outside Houston by visiting consular teams. Please DO NOT send cash in mail. 1. REQUIREMENTS FOR A TOURIST VISA:

1.Application form duly filled in. (Form can be downloaded from the web site)
2.Two 2"X 2" photograph.
3.Valid Passport.

2. REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS OTHER THAN U.S. PASSPORT HOLDERS:

A photocopy of BOTH SIDES of your Alien registration/temporary resident/permanent resident/employment authorization or a copy of a approved U.S. visa petition.

3. In certain cases [such as visits to restricted/protected areas, long term stay, research projects, studies (for student visa proof of admission and approval from concerned department are also required)], issue of visa takes longer. Please enquire about the time taken for issue of visa. Additional forms (in triplicate with three photos) have to be filled in for obtaining permit for restricted/protected areas.

4. Visa could be refused if any relevant information is withheld or is incorrect. The fact that an application for visa has been made does not guarantee that visa will be granted.

5. Please send your valid passport with the application for the stamping of visa, (Indian visas are NOT issued on separate visa sheets.)

6. An additional outstation fee of US $ 10.00 is charged when service is rendered outside Houston by visiting consular teams.
