Visa information
The Embassy accepts visa applications from Brazilians residing in States other than Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Parana, Santa Catarina & Rio Grande Sul. Residents of above 5 States should apply to the Consulate General of India in Sao Paulo.
Visa applications are normally accepted from 0830-1230 hours. Brazilian visa applications are processed and visas granted in two working days. For other nationals who are resident in Brazil, the Embassy will take a minimum of three working days to process the visa application. Applications of other nationals, who are not resident in Brazil, would be processed on merit, subject to clearance by the Indian Embassy in the country of the applicant. Visa fees can be paid either by cheque or cash.
The prescribed validity of the visa commences from the date of issue of visa and not from the date a person enters India. All persons holding visa valid for more than 180 days, except children below 16 years and certain categories of persons holding such visas with stipulation that each stay must not exceed 180 days, should register with the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office within 14 days of arrival in India. Visiting foreign nationals should also ensure that they leave India before the expiry of visa. Any overstay needs to be regularized and the visa extended, before any such person can leave the country, for which overstay fee of US$30 and visa extension fee would be collected by the immigration authorities in India. Any telephonic enquiry relating to submission of an application for visa may be had at 248 4006.
