When Lord Maavira died and was cremated, his followers carried away his ashes along with most of the soil. This area then became a tank where a majestic white marble temple called Jalmandir was built.

Rail - Pawapuri has its own station and is connected by the Bahktiapur - Rajgir line.
Road - You can reach Pawapuri by road from Biharsharif (8 km from Pawapuri), Patna (93 km from Pawapuri) and Rajgir (31 km from Pawapuri). Many buses and taxis ply on these routes.
Best season to visit - October to March.
